What to Expect

When you come to Christ Church Waukegan, you’ll find a welcoming community that gathers in the Episcopal Christian tradition. Our worship is mostly in English, with Spanish language elements woven into the prayers and preaching.

Children Welcome

Bring your children of all ages! We encourage those with young children to sit up front so they can more easily see what’s happening during the service.

We provide “Busy Bags” with various activities and small projects for use during the service. We also include kids’ sermons and an impromptu children’s choir when many children are in attendance.

On occasions with Baptisms, children are intentionally included in the blessing of the Baptismal water, the welcome of the Candidates, and the assembly around the Baptismal Font.

Join Us for Coffee and Tea Hour

After each service, we invite everyone to join us downstairs for Coffee and Tea Hour. It’s an easy way to meet people, ask questions, and get to know the community. Whether you are a lifelong Episcopalian, from another Christian tradition, or exploring faith for the first time, you will be received with warmth and respect.

Follow Along During Service

You’ll receive a bulletin that outlines the entire worship service, including the Scripture text that will be read aloud, the prayers, and the music that you are invited to sing.

We follow a broad church style that is halfway between “high” and “low” Episcopal church ceremonies. We hold a full Eucharist (communion) every Sunday, and all are welcome to participate.

Many services are available in Spanish or Bilingual format. Learn more.

Summer Service Location

When the weather is especially beautiful in the summer, we hold the Eucharist in the outdoor area just off the parking lot.
